MR. EDITOR - I wish to inquire for my father, Charley Stephen, who belonged to Squire Stephen, and was sold to a Mr. Foote. I have not seen him since 1850. My name was then Sarah Elizabeth; I now go by the name of Maria Williams. I came from near the Big Black, in Yalobusha county, Miss. Address me at Flatonia, Texas.

Maria Williams searching for his father Charley Stephen who was enslaved by Squire Stephen. Squire Stephen then sold him to a Mr. Foote. Maria Williams has not seen him since 1850. Her name was Sarah Elizabeth, but she goes by Maria Williams now. They lived near the Big Black in Yalobusha County, MS.

This ad was combined in the paper with an ad by J. B. Baker searching for his mother Elizabeth Grirson who was enslaved by the same enslaver as Maria Williams and her father.
