About this folder
This folder serves as a collection of the responses to the separation of family, specifically spouses who decide to remarry or find and reunite with their former spouses. As one of the main binding factors that gave enslaved people hope, the family structure serves as a powerful psychological motivator to survive and retain autonomy over their own lives. With this in mind, there's a chance that if separated from one's family, one may never never find their spouse again. They are then confronted with a decision: remarry or keep looking for their former spouse.
