[Stringer?] About one week before christmas she went to Bucklin Station in Kentucky to spend christmas with her aunt Patsy Butler who lives on Harvey Butlers Plantation. My wife Betsy Ann intended returning to Nashville about one week after christmas. On the 22d day of January 1867 my wife Betsy Ann sent word to me [strikethrough] by [strikethrough] at Nashville by Henry Harris, that she was held and would not be allowed to return by Harry Savers. Upon hearing of that I went up on the 23d inst to get my wife and bring her home, but Charlie Jackson living at South Tunnel told me upon no account to get off the train for they Jim and Tom Stagg and [strikethrough] To [strikethrough] Jim Sanders were watching for me at Bucklin Station. I saw them waiting for me at the station and I dare not get out of the train, for I went to Franklin and returned from there last night. George his X mark Gillem alias George Washington
