OF a colored boy named LYMAN GREEN,
about 18 years old; was in Memphis
last winter; was raised on Milton Covington's
plantation, 25 miles north of Natchez.

There was a Lyman Green who joined the U.S. Navy in September, 1863, and was assigned to the tinclad USS Petrel. He drowned in the Yazoo River near Haynes Bluff in January 1864. On Fold3.com I found a pension application from an Oscar Green who was the father of Lyman Green who served on the USS Petrel.
