My father Eli Smith, now dead was
born and reared in the State of Virginia.
He was sold as a slave to
the State of Louisiana. There were
three brothers and one sister, all
sold as slaves in Louisiana, Eli,
John, James and Emily Smith. I
am the only living son. Any information
concerning the whereabouts
of any member of the family will
be gladly received.
